This is a simple test a made to simulate volume inside a ball using a cloth sim in 3ds Max. I did this in 2 stages. First I simulated the ball by itself in a cloth sim applying Unyielding kinematics. Basically I animated the ball translating up on the z axis and let the sim take over afterward. I baked the animation into the object and made another sim in which the cloth plane reacts to the previous animation.

Rendered with Quicksilver.

I made this back in 2011. If i remember it was about 1-3 secs per frame with Quicksilver so not very long at all.

cool but the only downside is that you have to pay. Will you be able to show a tutorial on how you create your characters though it would help
